I can personally recommend the Frontier Fighters for those of you doing the exploration of our country from early on through the 1800's and KNights , Knaves and Kings for the MIddle Ages, Four Great Americans and 30 Famous Stories Retold, both by James Baldwin. The audio stories add a great deal of info. to the homeschool without any effort on your part! Plus, the children remember.
