Okay, I know that this question HAS to have been asked before. LOL! I am following the recommendations on the curriculum guide pretty much exclusively. This is what we do. I am doing a first grade year with my 6 year old son. We do school in the afternoons while the 2 year old is sleeping.
Math: Math U See Primer M-F
Science: 106 Days M W F
Beginning Reading: 100 Easy Lessons M-F
Copywork: Handwriting W/out Tears 1st grade, less than or one page M W F
Personal Dev: A Child's Book of Character Building, Book 1 M-Th
Foreign Language: First Steps Espanol, free videos from SCETV, once weekly
Hist/Geo/Bible: Module 1, M-F
Scripture Mem: using our AWANA verses, M-F
Literature: Module 1
Poetry: Stevenson, Milne this year, T/F
Hymn, Music, Nature, Picure Study: once weekly. Listen to composer everyday
Written out like that, it seems like enough, but we are done with everything in about two hours. I feel like I'm not adding in enough stuff. Last year we did Sonlight p4/5 for K year, and I felt like we read a whole lot more books in an hour and a half. Is that just a big difference? I just feel like I need to be doing MORE! Or maybe it's I feel like we should be reading more books. . . anybody else feel this way with a first grade?
Thanks so much,
Jenn
