This depends on how you want to organize your reading. All Through the Ages is primarily organized by historical period. There are some other lists in it, like Landmarks (these are also in WSWTR) but it is primarily organized by historical period (also some lists from places). WSWTR is organized by author. If you were going to get a WSWTR I'd start with the first book; some of the ones in the second book are still very, very good but some are harder to find. It just depends on whether you want to identify books from, say, the Revolutionary period, or whether you wanted to find a good author and just read all their books.

I am looking for a book to help with finding books for my children to read. I have looked at both of these resources; Who Should We Then Read, & All Through the Ages. Can someone tell me the differences, likes/dislikes about them. I am trying to decide which would be best to invest in and can't afford both. To complicate matters even more, there is a new Voume 2 of Who Should We Then Read. I don't think it includes the authors in the first book, so which one of those would be best? Sorry for all the questions, as you can see I am very confused on this matter. I am new to picking out living books and felt a good resource, along with the ones here on the website, would help. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!
