I had emailed the Kinetic people, and they told me the course was designed for use by a physics teacher--not a mom who'd never even had physics herself, so. They recommended against using it that way.

Really? Wow, I am glad you found that out. I guess when high school comes around, I will have to keep looking for a secular physics course. I have time, though, for that one since the boys just turned 12!

Well, we ended up not going with the Kinetic program. Dh looked at several things to compare at our convention this year and decided on Apologia again--we are familiar with it, and there are teacher answers. :-) So we decided not to be brave and try the new thing. I had emailed the Kinetic people, and they told me the course was designed for use by a physics teacher--not a mom who'd never even had physics herself, so. They recommended against using it that way.

I am very intrigued by the program as well. I have heard of good things about their Algrebra 1 course and was recently checking out their Conceptual Physics course to see if it would be OK to use for 7th grade. But I did find something on their web site that said this course would be a little harder than Paul G. Hewitt's Conceptual Physics course, so I opted to not do it at such a young age.

I would love to hear what others have to say about it, too!

Has anyone here seen or tried the physics programs from Kinetic Books? We are intrigued here, but are wondering if I'll be able to assess his progress (I've never taken physics myself) We are looking at the Principles of Physics and Virtual Labs at this site: http://www.kineticbooks.com/ and we'd probably accompany it with some in-home phsysics experiment books as well.
